Museum of Slovak Village - living history under the open sky

A visit to the grounds of the Museum of the Slovak Village offers a unique insight into life in the Slovak countryside in the 18th century. - 20th century. This largest Slovak open-air museum offers authentic monuments of folk architecture from five Slovakregions, including traditional houses, farm buildings, craft workshops and sacral buildings.

A walk through the museum is a journey back in time - visitors can learn about everyday life, crafts and cultural traditions that have shaped Slovak identity.

The Turčianske Festa Folklore Festival - meeting with traditions

The atmosphere of the open-air museum is further enhanced by the folklore event Turčianske festivals of folklore. It is an important regional event that annually presents folk culture in its most beautiful form. The programme includes performances by folklore ensembles, musicians, singers, craft demonstrations and accompanying activities suitable for all ages.

Gader Valley – the jewel of the Greater Fatra

Gader Valley is one of the most beautiful and popular valleys of the Greater Fatra. It is known for its picturesque scenery, pristine mountain environment and the quiet it has preserved despite the growing interest from tourists. The valley offers magnificent forests, rock formations, streams and numerous spots ideal for rest or photography.

Easy walk suitable for all age groups

The walk through Gader Valley is ideal even for less experienced hikers, families with children, or seniors. The route runs mostly along a wide, comfortable path that only gently ascends. Blatnica Castle – a reward for a short climb

Blatnica Castle dates back to the 13th century and in the past served an important defensive role. Today it offers a romantic setting, beautiful views over the Turiec Basin and the chance to combine an easy hike with discovering history.

Bojnice Castle – symbol of Slovak history

Bojnice Castle is one of the oldest and most significant monuments in Slovakia. Its history goes back to the 12th century and, over the centuries, it has undergone several reconstructions that give it the character of a fairytale castle today. It rises on a travertine hill above the town, which gives it a majestic presence and offers visitors impressive views of the surroundings.

Inside the castle there are rich historical exhibitions, art collections and unique objects from various periods. Bojnice Castle is also known for its cultural events – the popular International Festival of Ghosts and Spirits is held here every year, and themed tours and night walks are organized throughout the year.

Bojnice Zoo – the oldest zoological garden in Slovakia

Tour of the historical centre of Kremnica

The historic centre of Kremnica is one of the most beautiful and well-preserved in the whole region. Its atmosphere immediately transports you to the times when the town was an important centre of mining, crafts and trade. The narrow streets, original architecture and unique views create an ideal setting for a peaceful stroll and exploring the rich history.

Town Castle - National Cultural Monument

The dominant feature of the town is the grounds of the Town Castle, which is registered as a national cultural monument. The castle complex was built gradually from the 13th century onwards and consists of a set of medieval buildings, including St Catherine's Church, castle bastions and fortifications. A tour of the castle gives an insight into the history of the town, the development of architecture and the importance of Kremnica in the period of the Hungarian kings.

Kremnica Mint - the oldest working mint in the world

Kremnica is famous for its Mint, which has been in continuous operation since its foundation in 1328. It is considered to be the oldest mint in the world to date. Over the centuries, it has played an important role in the production of coins for Hungary and later for other European countries.

Today, the Kremnica Mint produces coins, medals, tokens and artistic numismatic products that travel to many countries. A visit to the mint is a unique opportunity to gain an insight into the secrets of coin production and to discover a craft that is still an integral part of the town's identity today.

A spa park full of attractions

The ideal place for relaxation, sports or a romantic stroll is certainly the park of fame. Perhaps the most striking attraction in the park are the benches, if you are left wondering what can be interesting on the benches, we will tell you right away. The benches found in the park are not the ordinary and such as we see everywhere, each one is unique. There's a happy smiley bench, a drunk or drunken bench and there's even something for the giants who have their own giant bench in the park. But the giant isn't the only "famous" personality who has his or her own spot in the park of fame. Since 2013, for example, the bench of theatre director and actor Jozef Bednárik has stood in the spa park. The bright and white place with dancing ballerinas belongs to the world-famous choreographer Mario Radačovskáand the one with a folklore pattern is built for the teacher and soloist of SĽUK Heda Melicherová.
